Peer Support Specialist with Recovery Dane
SOAR Case Management Services Inc. (SOAR), is seeking an experienced, responsive, trauma informed full-time Certified Peer Specialist to join our team. This position will be considered full-time working 32 hours per week. The position in our Recovery Dane program provides peer support built on the values of respect, safety, non-judgement and hope. We offer a casual and collaborative work environment in Madison, WI.
Your contributions will include:
Provide recovery-oriented, person-centered peer support services to Recovery Dane/SOAR peers.
Serve as a mentor for peers and provide them with an example of what they can strive for in their recovery.
Encourage and inspire Recovery Dane/SOAR peers to actively engage and maintain relationships with their natural and professional supports.
Accurate and timely completion of notes and other documentation of Peer interactions.
Engage within the multidisciplinary team effectively to best support Recovery Dane/SOAR peers in their recovery.
Communicate and provide consultation with other staff members.
Recognize and respect the lived experience of all peers.
Represent Recovery Dane/SOAR at community events as appropriate.
Exhibit creativity and flexibility when faced with potential cancellations to engage flexible peers in impromptu in-person or Zoom based peer support.
Attend and actively participate in the bi-weekly Recovery Dane/SOAR Peer Supervision meetings.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will need:
High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Active State Certified Peer Specialist certification is required.
Identify as a person with lived experience of recovery with mental health and/or substance use issues.
Demonstrated ability to provide Peer support in multiple settings is required.
Demonstrated understanding of principles of recovery.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a range of personality types.
Demonstrated ability to value recovery and recognize the importance of culturally appropriate, person-centered, trauma-informed care.
Must possess a valid driver’s license, insurance to meet state requirements and access to a vehicle to use for work related purposes.
Must be able to successfully pass a caregiver background check and DMV check at hire and annually thereafter in accordance with the state and local DHS requirements.
Full vaccination status for COVID-19 is required. Reasonable accommodation for documented medical or religious reasons will be considered. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks weeks after receiving the second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or two weeks after receiving a single dose of the Jansen/J&J vaccine.
In exchange for your talents, SOAR offers competitive pay of $17.50/hour and benefits. We offer a full benefit package including:

Education:

Peer Support: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification: CCS certified
Active Certified Peer Specialist certification (Required)
