Solstice House
Solstice House: Community Care That Works
Peer Respite
Solstice House is a non-clinical, fully voluntary, home-like respite house for adults who live in Wisconsin, and occasionally, out-of-state. We support those experiencing crisis, emotional distress, or life-interrupting events. Guests stay up to five nights in a peaceful setting, with space to rest, reflect, and connect.
Only the individual in crisis can refer themselves. We do not accept referrals from family members, providers, or other third parties.
Call (608) 244-5077, option 1 to ask about peer respite.
Warmline Support
A 24/7 phone line for past, current, and prospective Solstice House guests.
Our house line is answered by specially trained peer staff who can support you in the following ways: provide general information about the peer respite, answer questions from prospective guests seeking a respite stay, and discuss your guest experience.
Our warmline also provides specialized, mission-driven support. We are available to take calls from people living in Wisconsin who have experienced any of the following when navigating a crisis:
- Involuntary psychiatric hospitalization
- Involuntary crisis stabilization or 72-hour holds
- Criminalization (e.g., incarceration, jail, prison)
- Unwanted police and/or emergency response
- Unwanted family or other third-party involvement
- Other forms of involuntary care/treatment in a restrictive setting were unhelpful, unnecessary, and/or harmful
Call (608) 244-5077, option 2 for warmline support.
Peer-Led Support Circles
Living Madly & Beyond: A Mad Pride Support Space
A group for people with lived experience of madness, crisis, distress, extreme states, or psychiatric systems to gather, share, and explore what healing and resistance look like outside of traditional systems and medical model frameworks.
Rooted in Mad Pride history, we reject the pathology and criminalization placed on our minds, bodies, and ways of being.
